Kampuchea Balopp (founded in 2012) is an NGO registered in France but working in Phnom Penh, Cambodia bringing sport and rugby in particular to disadvantaged children helping them develop essential human qualities like sharing, mutual respect, team spirit, and teamwork. They work with orphaned, destitute, abused as well as deaf and blind kids.

For the last 5 years Tanglin Rugby Club has sent donated kit back to Kampuchea and also sent deflated rugby balls which have been recycled into wallets and sold at various TRC events with all proceeds returning to Cambodia.  In 2017 we extended this partnership one significant step further by inviting a Kampuchea Balopp side to Singapore to join our TRC Junior Cup and we also bought a girls team over to Singapore in 2019 for the Singlife Girls Rugby TRC Cup.

In both cases, these kids had never travelled before, didn’t have passports (which we helped to source) and in many cases, they didn’t have birth certificates.  Bringing a team of 15 players and adult support obviously required funding to the tune of approximately $10k per year for passports, accommodation and of course travel.  We all love our Rugby and enjoy watching/coaching our kids play.  These were unique opportunities to be part of a once in a lifetime experience for a number of Cambodian kids which we hope could be the start of an annual fixture.

If anyone would like to donate or know of a corporate sponsor that would fund (think shirt branding, PR opportunities) then all help would be appreciated.
